I've always been a bit of a petrol head... anything that's fast and makes loud noises usually gets me excited. Recently I've been working on my latest track toy to get it ready for its first track day at the beginning of next month.
I've always had a thing for the Mazda MX5... rear wheel drive, great handling and fantastic fun to drive. A bit of a 'hairdresser's car' you may think... but this one is quick enough to ruin any hairstyle! With over 250bhp running through the back wheels and weighing just 900kg, it should prove lots of fun on the track.
The car is capable of reaching speeds of 150mph+ and has a 0-60 time of around 5 seconds so with that kind of power the rest of the car has had serious modifications... to not only be quick, but safe too. Brakes, suspension, tyres, engine management, you name it, it's been upgraded. Oh and a roll cage just in case it all goes a bit 'Pete Tong'!
I'm currently making last minute tweaks to the car and will let you know how we get on next month, so watch this space! Now... where's my hairdresser? I need a haircut!
