The future of UK design
A couple of weeks ago I was invited to the Hull College Foundation Art and Design exhibition. As I, and some of my creative colleagues, attended the same course (quite a few years ago!) it was interesting to see the high standard and variety of work on show. Not only was the work highly creative but the use of technology/media was extremely high.
The students I spoke to were extremely passionate about their work as was one of the tutors, Frances Kelly, who was very proud of the level that the students had achieved. She informed me that the Graphic Design students had been specially commended by the course adjudicators. It was not difficult to see why.
The graphic design industry is constantly evolving, it needs experienced designers but also needs new blood with fresh ideas that can be nurtured and ensure that the UK design agencies are still the strongest in the world. After visiting The Hull College Exhibition, not only did I feel proud to have attended the same course but it also re-assured me that the future of UK design is looking stronger than ever.
