When rain almost stopped play
On a recent trip to Portugal with Hitachi, we found out that you can’t always count on the weather. A huge deluge on the day we arrived meant that no work could be done on the road construction sites that we were due to see.
The rain makes a bit of a mess of soil and clay, and this could be magnified by the construction machines’ huge tracks and tyres. So, it is actually a better idea to send the workforce home and wait for two consecutive dry days, so that they can be more productive on dry, rut-free ground.
This of course is a nightmare scenario for a UK agency turning up with its client and photographer. Fortunately, the kind Hitachi dealer was able to persuade his customer to find an operator to do some “gentle” work in an excavator for a few minutes and enable us to get that all-important photography.
The result can be seen above – in my opinion one of the best locations we have found this year and just the stroke of luck we needed on this occasion! Needless to say that the sun was shining brightly when we were on our way home…
