Educating China
Over the past 12 weeks, RBP has enjoyed a special partnership with the international college at the Grimsby Institute of Further and Higher Education (GIFHE). Eight students from Guangzhou University in China have been completing their media studies qualification in the UK, and as part of their course, attended the professional practice element at RBP’s Lincolnshire office.
For one day each week, students Tang, Anya, Shadow, Cheevi, Elaine, Lymn, Jessie and Belle undertook a comprehensive programme of activity under the guidance of RBP’s experienced directors and account handlers. The syllabus primarily focussed on the creative design and development of a bespoke website, www.g-life.uk.com, which the international students updated on a regular basis. The latter stages of the programme demonstrated how to write blogs and news stories, apply PR to real-world case studies, use social media platforms and Search Engine Optimisation, and improve photography skills.
Over the short three months, the students have significantly developed their knowledge of the English language, worked well on both group and individual tasks, presented their ideas on challenging topics and demonstrated a basic understanding of a range of European marketing principles. The course came to an end last week, and I was honoured to take part in their special awards celebration in Grimsby. On behalf of everyone at RBP, we wish the students all the best in their future careers.
